Finally It's Confirmed: J.J. Abrams Directing Star Trek XI

After months of off and on rumors about J.J. Abrams directing Star Trek XI, confirmation has finally come from Hollywood Reporter. The buzz on this is spreading like a virus around the internet, eliciting hopes that Abrams won't ruin the franchise and that the creator of Lost may bring a triumphant return to the beloved series.

Hate to say it, but I think it's already been ruined. When I walk out of a movie after paying $8.00 to see it, it's bad. I've only ever done that twice. Ishtar was one.

Maybe he can put it on some life support, but I think it's pretty dead.

I read the first draft of the script which was leaked out a few months back. Well not so much a script as a couple of pages of overview. 2 words.. sucked a$$

It starts with old kirk and spock at a starfleet function and they begin to talk about how they met. Fade to flashback and the rest of the movie.
kirk meeting spock at the academy, the friction between them as different species. Graduating, being assigned to the same ship. Alien species attaching federation vessels, many crew killed and kirk and spock forced to work together. In a rescue mission they are sent to a second ship where with the help of a
brilliant young engineer named scotty they are able to
get the ship going, fight off the aliens and saving the lives of their many cadet crewmen.

Now this was just the first draft that was approved by paramount. We all know that nimoy would not appear in a cameo unless it was integral to the story, so at this point I think you can rule him out. Shatner would do it, so I think you can expect a cameo from him.

JJ says he is a huge fan of the original series, so maybe once he gets his hands on the script there will be big changes. But don't get your hopes up, this is the guy who did mission impossible 3. This does not bode well.

I mean I don't want to get off on a rant here, but spock was in the academy like 20 years before kirk. He was serving under pike whilst kirk was still a farm boy back on earth. And scotty too was well ahead of kirk in the academy.

Where is gary mitchel, kirks best friend at the academy? he was a year ahead of kirk but saved kirk from the pranks of that jerk upperclassman finney.

ohhhh I want to slap out these writers. any time they use the word "re imagine" it makes me cringe.
