Bush veto of troop-withdrawal measure stands - MarketWatch
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — President Bush’s veto of a war-spending bill that called for the withdrawal of most U.S. troops from Iraq will stand.
The Democratic-controlled House voted 222-203 to override the veto, falling well short of the required two-thirds supermajority. The outcome was no surprise since the bill initially passed the House by a narrow margin last week, and Democratic leaders in the Senate were unlikely to call for a vote given the House action.
Bush was due to meet with top congressional Democrats and Republicans later Wednesday afternoon in an effort to begin work toward a compromise.

How sad. Bush’s rape of America and the world continues unabated.
