Variety.com - Spacey set for ‘Superman’ sequel
Kevin Spacey will return as Lex Luthor in “Superman: Man of Steel” and appear in “Telstar,” Nick Moran’s film version of Moran and James Hicks’ 2005 darkly comic West End play about flamboyant ’60s record mogul Joe Meek.
“Superman” director Bryan Singer met with Spacey in New York while the latter was appearing on Broadway in Eugene O’Neill’s recently wrapped “Moon for the Misbegotten.” Singer was about to pitch his “Man of Steel” sequel to Warner Bros.; “Superman Returns” scripter Michael Dougherty is now writing the screenplay.
After Singer completes “Valkyrie” and “The Mayor of Castro Street,” he plans to start production on “Man of Steel” next year for a 2009 release.
Spacey hopes to shoot his Luthor role in a six-week block, as he did on “Superman Returns,” after he completes his run in David Mamet’s “Speed the Plow” in April.

I wasn’t a big fan of Spacey’s Luthor. Hopefully it was just the story/script and they’ll be better this time.
I am the biggest Superman fan - but the movie just wasn’t that great. Loved Brandon as Supes and the airplane seen was awesome - but that’s about it. Still - looking forward to this.

VOA News - Director of Classic Christmas Movie Dies
U.S. filmmaker Bob Clark, who directed the classic A Christmas Story, has been killed in a head-on car crash at the age of 67.
Clark and his 22-year-old son were driving along a major highway near Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon when their car was struck head-on by another vehicle.  Clark’s son was also killed in the crash.  Authorities say the driver is facing charges in the case.

Sad news. I love that movie.

Singer sees ‘Superman’ sequel for summer ‘09

Bryan Singer

By Sheigh Crabtree

SAN DIEGO — If director Bryan Singer has his way, Superman will take to the air a second time.

Singer, who directed the current “Superman Returns,” told fans Friday at Comic-Con International, that he has had discussions with Warner Bros. Pictures about directing a sequel for release in the summer of 2009.

“Superman Returns,” starring Brandon Routh, has grossed $169 million domestically to date, a figure that has been regarded by some observers as a disappointment given the movie’s production costs of more than $200 million.

But while Singer stressed that plans for the sequel are still tentative, he expressed his interests in keeping the franchise aloft.

“I plan to get all ‘Wrath of Khan’ on it,” Singer said — a reference to 1982’s “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan,” which is generally considered as having breathed life into the “Star Trek” franchise after 1979’s “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” suffered critical barbs. “We haven’t concluded a deal. That’s always iffy,” Singer added. “The intention is to do it for 2009.”

I saw Superman Returns last night at the IMAX 3D. Around twenty minutes of the movie are in 3D.
My recommendation -
Do not see this movie the first time in IMAX. It is incredibly distracting and takes you completely out of the movie.
You sit there waiting for the green glasses icon to put the damn things on then looking for the red glasses to take them off.
It really detracted. Probably would have been really neat for a second viewing.
That said - The movie was very entertaining and Brandon Routh did an excellent job as Superman.
