Take Action
Sep. 25th, 2006 09:16 pmNo Warrant? No Search.
The Senate will soon vote on a bill that permits the Administration to spy on Americans without court approval. This violates the Bill of Rights and leaves us all unprotected from snooping government agents. Click here: http://action.downsizedc.org/wyc.php?cid=53 to tell your Senators to oppose the Arlen Specter bill and your Representative to oppose the Heather Wilson bill, and to preserve the role of the courts to approve searches of Americans.

I'm going to start including things like this from time to time. Things I think anyone reading this should take action on. It's simple to do and will add to the number of letters of those opposed.
This is something that the congress critters pay attention to. It's not much but it does make you aware and it does make at least a little difference.

I oppose the Specter bill (S. 2453) and the Wilson bill (H.R. 5825) that allows the Executive Branch to bypass the FISA court and spy on Americans. Please do anything and everything you can to stop these bills that permit warrantless searches, including implementing procedural tactics to block a vote.
My personal comment to you:
I understand that the temptation to do things like this is high, as they will seemingly help us to be more secure, but the cost of them is too great. We have to do the right thing, regardless of the cost, we need to stick to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and not ignore or work around them.
Thank You,

Durka Durka? I hope you're not implying I'm babbling like a "World Police" muslim.
And I've been meaning to ask -
So why is a Canadian so interested anyway?

Date: 2006-09-26 05:11 am (UTC)Canadians are people too!!!!!
Surveillance can make us safer, and it can also be used to manipulate and control us.
But it's their country too!!!!!!! Interesting how the USA were polarized during the last two elections. Maybe it really is two countries after all. Maybe we need an East-USA and West-USA? The North-South thing didn't work out too well last time they tried it, and isn't working too well for Korea either. But wait, what is a country? Too much tequila makes it all blurry!
