Silverbrook’s Memjet printer technology available late 2007, company says | Texyt
New inkjet printer technology that analysts believe will revolutionize the imaging industry was unveiled today by secretive Silverbrook Research.

The company has released astounding videos of desktop, photo and wide-format printers that print pages and photos 5 to 10 times faster than products from current printer market leaders HP, Canon, Epson and Lexmark.

“This thing is gigantic, we’ve been in this business for 20 years and I’ve never seen something as mind boggling,” says Charles LeCompte, president of leading printer market analysis firm, Lyra Research.

“The technology will be available in products in late 2007, starting with a 100mm printhead that will be used for home and retail photo printing as well as label printing devices. An A4/Letter printhead will be available in 2008 with many different components and technology improvements planned for the future,” the company announced today.

HP, Canon and other printer manufacturers are described as “potential customers”, by Memjet Technology, the main company established by Silverbrook to market and license the technology. The company expects the printers to eventually cost $200 or less, sources say.

This thing is astoundingly fast. Check out the video on the link.

My Way News - Mystery Creator of Anti-Clinton Ad ID’d
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Internet video sensation that targeted Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton now has rival Sen. Barack Obama on the spot.

Heralded by many as the embodiment of Web-driven citizen activism, the mysterious YouTube ad now stands revealed as the work of a Democratic operative employed by a consulting firm with Obama links.

“It’s true … yeah, it’s me,” said Philip de Vellis, a 33-year-old strategist with Blue State Digital, a Washington company that advises Democratic candidates and liberal groups.

Blue State designed Obama’s Web site, and one of the firm’s founding members, Joe Rospars, took a leave from the company to work as Obama’s director of new media.

Obama, Blue State and de Vellis all say de Vellis acted on his own. De Vellis left the company on Wednesday. He said he resigned; Thomas Gensemer, the firm’s managing director, said he was fired.

I don’t imagine this guy will have too much problem finding a new gig. Plenty of press that’s for sure.

Letterman sidekick Calvert DeForest dead at 85 - Los Angeles Times
Calvert DeForest, the roly-poly character actor with the black-framed glasses and seemingly clueless delivery who developed a cult following as Larry “Bud” Melman on “Late Night with David Letterman” in the 1980s, has died. He was 85.

DeForest, who continued appearing with Letterman under his own name after the late-night comedian moved to CBS in the early 1990s and last appeared on the show in 2002, died Monday in a hospital in Babylon, Long Island, N.Y. after a long illness, said a spokesman for Worldwide Pants, which produces “The Late Show With David Letterman.”

“Everyone always wondered if Calvert was an actor playing a character, but in reality he was just himself–a genuine, modest and nice man,” Letterman said in a statement Wednesday. “To our staff and to our viewers, he was a beloved and valued part of our show, and we will miss him.”

I had forgotten about Larry Bud… RIP

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales told a crowd in St. Louis, Mo. that he’s happy to be out of Washington - if just for a day. The embattled head of the Justice Department is standing firm amid calls for him to step down, telling reporters, “I’m not going to resign. I’m going to stay focused on protecting our kids,” a nod to the Project Safe Childhood program, a Justice Department initiative against online predators and child exploitation.

Protecting our kids….. right. Quit already.
