Miers said to be on `extreme end' of pro-life
movement

The Dallas Morning
News

(KRT) - As political activists rush to mine Supreme Court nominee
Harriet Miers' slender public record, a former campaign manager says she opposed
abortion rights while running for Dallas City Council in 1989.

"She is on the extreme end of the anti-choice movement," said Lorlee Bartos,
who managed Miers' first and only political campaign and said they discussed
abortion once during the race.

"I think Harriet's belief was pretty strongly felt," Bartos said Monday. "I
suspect she is of the same cloth as the president."

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said she couldn't comment on Bartos'
recollection but added that President Bush "does not have a litmus test for his
judicial nominees."

Miers, a corporate lawyer who served on the City Council from 1989 to 1991,
is something of a cipher as a judicial candidate, having never served on the
bench or compiled extensive legal writings. That lack of a paper trail proved
more vexing Monday to social conservatives, while many Democrats and liberal
activists held their fire.

Bartos said Miers told her she was "pro-choice in her youth" but underwent "a
born-again, profound experience" that caused her to oppose abortion.

yup - that's what i read in the denver post. i'm so geared to secede with a blue state. seriously. if that shit gets rolled back in the red state i'm in because the dems don't filibuster, i'm likely adjusting my long term plans. blue state or canada.

yeah. i'll probably go to vancouver and wash dishes under the table for 10 years if i have to. the mexicans here have set a very good example of how it's all done. plus, i have some old boots from a fishing boat experience - perfect for any dishwashing pit. i ain't doing anything rash for a while - it's mostly the baggage that comes from pro-lifers that's gonna make an overturned roe-v-wade suck. i guess i could go full on go the marilyn manson route just to be cool - but whatever. sometimes i think an anonymous, non-p.c., anti-republican hate-metal album would be a nice idea. i don't know. being in a red town in a red state is weird. i know people that claim to have a head on their shoulders that voted for g.w. i don't understand that. it's infuriating. i can't get over how many idiots there truly are. when people say: "oh, people suck," i used to think, "tee-hee, what a cute exaggeration," but that's because i'm from portland oregon. but it's fucking true and this last election, rigged or not, proves that a SHIT-LOAD of people really do suck. i honestly didn't think it was that many.

other industrialized nations seem to have border control down to a science because i think they're all scared americans are gonna flock to europe or canada en masse when we collapse under the weight of christian stupidity. it'll be ironic to have canada's gay national gaurd shooting american hippies climbing over "the wall." "no, no! i like gay people! shoot the fuckers that kicked me out!"

say roe-v-wade does get overturned, there is hope that the dems will swarm the bejesus out of congress within the next 2 elections and legislate abortion rights. a lot of people criticize roe-v-wade by saying abortion rights should have happened through legislature, not the judiciary. so there is still hope that the reds are ruining themselves beyond ruin and the people will get their way in the end. time will tell.
