Is this the theory I heard could predict the masses of the particles?

Yeah - This is the one carried forward from Heim - who was able to predict particle masses. :-)

So maybe just maybe they've got something.

This is better than when GR and the graviton both fell out of string theory.

Too bad the paper doesn't talk about that part.
