Crusades

ISLAMABAD Pope Benedict XVI faced growing Muslim anger Friday over remarks in which he linked Islam with violence, and the Pakistani Parliament called on him to retract the statement.

In India, the head of the minorities commission said the pope had sounded like a medieval crusader.

In a university lecture in Regensburg, Germany, on Tuesday, the pope implicitly denounced connections between Islam and violence, particularly with regard to jihad. The pope's chief spokesman, the Reverend Federico Lombardi, later issued a statement saying that Benedict respected Islam but rejected violence motivated by religion

Blah fuckin blah.

I'm no supporter of Ratzinger but I'm sick of the fucking muslim bullies. Is that how they react to EVERYTHING? Anger, riots, veiled (or not) threats of violence? With an idiot mass mob mentality? Fuck them.

It's amusing, when you really think about it.

They're (supposedly? I didn't read the link admittedly) rioting and making veiled threats of violence because... they were accused of being violent?

A little hint, people: all you're doing is proving the accusers right.

While I agree with both of you, we have to remember one important thing...the fundamentalist muslims DO NOT follow the Quran as printed. If they did, there would be no fundalimentalism. Islam by its nature denounces violence, and that is written throughout the Quran.
I will say, it does not surprise me that the Pope has "stepped into it" AGAIN - the Catholics have been sitrring the pot like this since back in the days of Vatican II (mid to late 1960's). Yeah, I know, I'm old...LOL

Yeah - I hear that a lot about "muslims". My readings of their book don't show it to be super violent but then again I find it pretty worthless with comments like "You can't be friends with Christians and Jews" and saying a man is worth multiple women and such. Trash religion in my opinion. Not that I'm high on religion in general.
And yeah - we've been stirring up the world for a few thousand years now :-) (retired Catholic here)

I am as well, Ginny. When the Catholic Church started sticking its big nose into politics while I was at college in Boston, it bothered me so much that I left the church.
I am what is termed spiritual - I don't need a church to pray to God. I still do believe in God, but don't think you need to have elaborate ceremonies etc. to be able to talk to God.
