Bush bypasses Senate to name ambassador - Yahoo! News
WASHINGTON - President Bush named Republican fundraiser Sam Fox as U.S. ambassador to Belgium on Wednesday, using a maneuver that allowed him to bypass Congress, where Democrats had derailed Fox’s nomination.
The appointment, made while lawmakers were out of town on spring break, prompted angry rebukes from Democrats, who said Bush’s action may even be illegal.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] azzy23 form livejournal for bringing this to my attention.

This man must be stopped - it seems like every day I hear of some new travesty he has initiated. Absolutely no respect for the Constitution or the people. He needs to be impeached and removed. Damn Pelosi for taking Impeachment off the table.

First, we need to find out if the action was actually illegal. It isn't as if Congress is clean when it comes to political maneuvering.

I'd like to impeach the lot of them. NONE of them have any respect for the Constitution. Me, I think that Congress is far more dangerous than the president.

I doubt it is illegal in this case. He is just crapping all over the spirit of the Constitution when he does this stuff. He's done enough else to be impeached for. At least Nixon was humble enough to resign. Not this cat.

Look... I'm of the opinion that just based on Congess' abdication of their duty to declare war, all of them should be impeached. We don't even need to get into the gross abuse of tax money for Unconstitutional projects. If I'm going to clamor for the impeachment of the president, I have to clamor for the impeachment of Congress too.

We need to impeach the people that still elect them. Much easier to change them out (well - Housewise anyway) - smaller pool - no electoral college - shorter terms...
First off - anyone that votes a straight party ticket should be beaten in the head with a mallet a few times.
That crap should be removed from the ballot.

Hear-hear...

When in gov. class I found out that a couple of our SCOTUS justices were "swing voters" who actually didn't rule along party lines. You should have seen me ranting and raving. Anyone who votes a party line isn't thinking and swing voters are the only ones who have any business voting.

Here's a thought - let's trust neither NPR *or* FOX. Let's actually spend two seconds looking things up and making up an informed opinion of our own.

I don't think it's illegal either. It's incredibly sheisty though. He nominates the guy, the nomination gets shot down, so he withdraws the nomination, waits for everyone to go on vacation, then uses his favorite loophole to appoint the guy for the rest of his term.

The message is crystal clear. I will rarely use the proper channels. When I deign to use them, you will give me what I want, or I will simply go around you again. This is not a president, it's a spoiled brat using lies and loopholes to turn our country into a theocracy. President BombsALot thinks he can do whatever he wants, including committing torture and unlawfully invading other soverign countries, and what's really sad is...

He can. Nobody is stopping him at all. Hell, nobody's even speaking terribly HARSHLY to him. The democrats are apparently about as useful as this non-binding resolution I just passed to scratch my own head. Why don't we just pay someone from the 700 club to pass him a freakin' note asking him to check which type of dictator he is?

This is why I don't vote democrat, either. They rolled over and let Bush start *two* wars, they gave us Kerry for an alternative, and now they won't impeach him.

They know the score and they are complicit. Both parties have to go.
