"I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom ofthe people by the gradual and silent encroachments of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpations." - James Madison

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves." - William Pitt, 1783

The police state is real and it will do nothing but get worse while the people of the US sit back and ignore what is happening around them. As long as we're "safe". Know anything about REAL ID? It's your new national ID card. Know much about DHS. This is what is being used to refer to Department of Homeland Security "officers"? They seem to be popping up in more and more places. I don't trust them and I don't want them around. All this crap is quasi-constitutional at BEST. I'm seeing debates about eliminating carry-on luggage. And electronics carried on. So you'd put that laptop and cellphone in checked luggage. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA. Say good-bye to those. How stupid are these TSA and DHS folks? Let's go back to the 1960s. While we're at it let's just make flying only for necessity. Let's get it government approved. I mean - we're trusting the "government" to handle things right now aren't we? It can all be coordinated with your National biometric ID "Driver's License". The terrorists have won many battles and are winning the war as well. They are eliminating the free country that was. They are slowly eliminating the free, capitalist, constitutional country that we used to know.

....
Even if terrorists were able to pull off one attack per year on the scale ofthe 9/11 atrocity, that would mean your one-year risk would be one in 100,000 and your lifetime risk would be about one in 1300. (300,000,000 ÷3,000 = 100,000 ÷ 78 years = 1282) In other words, your risk of dying in a plausible terrorist attack is much lower than your risk of dying in a car accident, by walking across the street, by drowning, in a fire, by falling,or by being murdered.
