New research shows that people with blue eyes have a single, common ancestor. A team at the University of Copenhagen have tracked down a genetic mutation which took place 6-10,000 years ago and is the cause of the eye colour of all blue-eyed humans alive on the planet today.

Date: 2008-01-31 02:48 am (UTC)That said, I know we have a most recent common patrilinear ancestor "y-adam", and a most recent common matrilinear ancestor "mt-eve", so I wonder if maybe every trait we've got can be tracked down in a similar way.
Like, for example, our susceptibility to cancer. Yeah, I'm dreaming, but I'm not the only one.
Heard anything about the attempt to breed-back Aurochs out of extinction by using the genetic code of its modern relatives?
